Shiane Claudia Marie Dixon

March 31, 1997 - June 29, 2009

On Monday, June 29, the Maryland Titans suffered a tragic loss as their friend and teammate — 12-year-old Shiane Dixon — was killed in a one-car accident on I-95 as she was traveling with family and friends to Florida. Shiane had been a member of the Titans for five years, and was deeply loved by her teammates and her coaches. She was an irreplaceable member of the Titans midget 4x400 relay that was scheduled to run at this year's USATF Regional meet, and ran the 4x800 at last year's AAU National Championships.

Shiane was an honor student at Rocky Hill Middle School in Clarksburg, MD, where she would have been entering 8th grade. She was a member of the band and the choir, and played the piano and the clarinet. Shiane also enjoyed basketball, gymnastics and cheerleading, often cheering at her brother Hassan's football games. She was very creative and always set the highest goals for herself in school, in athletics, and in everything else she did. Most importantly, she was a good friend.

We ask that everyone keep Shiane's family in their thoughts and prayers.

While Shiane has certainly left us far too early, her spirit and love will continue to be a part of the Maryland Titans forever.
